yeah his backhand looks like complete shit. which only means the darcis guy is gonna keep forcing him to hit it backhand.

Re: 2013 Wimbledon Thread
the fck is wrong with nadals knee? he took the tourney after the french off so he could heal, but you could tell it was bad today. he just didnt have it, he didnt chase, he didnt defend, his backhand was horrible. he usually breaks his opponents like 2-3 times a set, and he could barely touch this guy

Guess the courts were a bit quicker this time around, hey?
People seriously need to calm down with this Rafa possible GOAT talk. He could win as many as he wants, and he wouldn't be. Take him for what he is; a great clay court player who happened to win a few titles on the other surfaces before he was figured out a little.
He is close to unbeatable on clay. Incredible stamina, and ability to chase down every shot. But once you get on the quicker courts, its harder to keep that up, and he has to rely more on his opponent missing his shots than him doing anything about it. He plays moonball tennis.

Very gracious of Nadal to still sign autographs and letting Darcis leave 1st. I'm not a Rafa fan but he's always been a great professional. Get better soon.

do you enjoy defense in the NBA? or do you root for the heat because of high flying hollywood? maybe you werent around for the knicks-heat rivalry when it was a slugfest and playoff games were won 72-70 but i was. sure its different scenarios as the nba is a team game and tennis is 1 on 1, but i love defense. nadal plays defense, he doesnt have the offense of djokavic or federer, but he has beat both those guys plenty because of the defense he plays. he has knee issues, which is 100% the reason why he sucked today. he was missing so many easy shots, and his backhand was deplorable.
and for the record, they have sped up the clay court a lil at the french.

I understand the general point of your post but I think you're selling Rafa short. The only player who has "figured him out" consistently has been Djoko. If it weren't for him, Rafa would have several more hardcourt Slams under his belt.
Plus, the 2008 Wimbledon Final. The "Best Final Ever". Don't see how one just "happens" to win titles with matches like that.

Good Golly!
Re: 2013 Wimbledon Thread
what were the betting odds on the rafa match?
-
Re: 2013 Wimbledon Thread
-20000 for Nadal and -1600 for the other guy.
So he was a 2000/1 favorite, and the other guy was a 1/160 underdog.

If Rafa wins "as many as he wants" he would most def be the GOAT. If he finishes with 16 or 17 you would have a 50/50 split for Rafa/Roger most likely, if Rafa finishes with more it would be a high majority for Nadal.
Point blank, end of discussion. This loss is no different than losing in a semi....nobody cares who made semi's, only who wins the title.

How many potential GOAT's get swept in the 1st round of a Major while in their prime?

This loss most certainly is. He lost in the first round...
No, if he finishes with 17, there won't be a 50/50 split. Hes a player that dominated, and will most likely continue to dominate only one surface. Federer was a more complete player who could win on any court.

This is complete BS. There is a huge difference losing to a top 10 player in the semi's and getting swept in the 1st round by a no-name scrub.
