    Thanksgiving

    The iconic Burger

    The go-to Hot Dog

The famous smell of Apple Pie, renown as one of the best desserts in fine cuisine. They serve this at fine restaurants too.

I can go on but leave it at this.

Whether it's embarrassing compared to other countries' is subjective. The thread asked for American cuisine.

There are lots of American cuisine, South America has some of the best and North America too.

I'm just listing some from the North.

    How about a taco?

I got the same impression as well. I expect the actual number of popular food which recipes were invented in the US to be quite low.

    Putting steak/fish/meat on a grill =/= BBQing.

Chicken fried steak is not made here in Australia like it is in the states. Breakfast food like that is pretty ****ing American.

Our breakfast sausage is heaps better.

what about all the badass american sirloin steaks?

I think we're one of the best if not the best countries in terms of cooking meat. Loads of countries either serve it way too dry or put too much sauce and spice all over it. A properly cooked rare steak I haven't had anywhere but America.
