Super Typhoon in the Phillippines: Winds up to 235 mph!!!!

i was reading about this storm this morning. i couldn't find how many casualties they expect? i hope the number is not high, nor the cost of the storm. the philippines will receive american aid but i hope it's not overly-expensive.

If it's actually the "strongest ever recorded" that makes it hard to predict no? The strongest typhoon last year caused close to 2000 casualties in the Philippines, but that's an exceptionally high number.

Well, from my limited anecdotal experience they are very fickle. The strength, trajectory and speed can change quite dramatically within a 12 hour window.

okay, thanks. i recall we had more time with sandy, although of course that was a different storm. i suppose there's no easy warning formula for this stuff.


i figure these storms are only going to get worse in coming years, though, which is a second reason why i find this one pretty terrifying.
