The defensive impact is missing in those numbers.

Uh, no.
The bulls starting lineup needs more defense, that's what they're missing
Uh, yes. Are you ****ing serious?

I'm not saying Gibson is better than Boozer. I'm saying the offensive numbers don't tell the whole story and can't be used as the sole point of a comparison.
I'd like to hear Dwight's case for a first ballot hall of fame selection. Go ahead.

Iman Shumpert
Nicholas Batum
Jeff Green
Derrick Favors
GMs must love these guys because of their trade value. They have such high value on the market yet they don't produce up to expectations. The smart thing to do would be to trade them since you just know that they're going to be overpaid in one way or another.

Have you even looked at Favors's numbers this year? Have you seen him play this year?

Probably big time. I'm not gonna look it up, and if somebody does maybe I'll be surprised, but Chicago's starters with Taj in place of Boozer has to be a big positive difference. Not for this year, since Gibson got drafted.
I laughed at that deal Chicago gave Gibson when it first happened, but it's below market now. I have no doubt someone would give him 10+ now.
Also, damn, Gibson's already 28?

How has his prime been? Has he done anything with it? Those are great statistics, but I don't think that's enough to get in first-ballot in light of the lack of winning.
But the point of the thread is also to point out players that never live up to their expectations. Dwight fits the bill perfectly. If you'd like another center, I'll give you Brook Lopez.

Batum being a blue chip trade piece died with that extension. Not that he isn't a nice player, but feels like he's plateaued.

Thanks for educating me on fantasy numbers, but that means jackshit when we are talking about a player's impact on the game.

You need Boozer in the starting lineup, Rose needs some offensive support.

Are you absolutely retarded? Howard has multiple first team selections and has defensive ratings that are as high as any player ever had. If you think "winning" is stopping his resume from getting first ballot HoF, you're deluded. If you said this shit while he was still on the Magic and this new image of him wasn't so omnipresent, you'd be laughed out the building. Guess what? I'm stilling laughing at you.

See, that's what I don't get. Why do GMs feel the need to overpay good but not great players? In the end, Lillard and Aldridge are still going to be the cornerstones of the team and if they want to make any noise in the west, they're going to have to add more talent. They shouldn't be trying to get rid of their financial flexibility; the team needs to find a way to add the pieces needed in the next 2-3 years while Aldridge is still in his prime.
