Default Lebron James in his 11th year is still at his peak

When we think of legendary players like bird, mike, larry, kobe, shaq, hakeem, reggie etc they are unguardable throughout their entire careers. Lebron is in his 11th season and thats when many great players like vince carter, mac, billups, stoudemire etc begin their big downfall. Its definitely no understatement to say that he is a legend based on longevity dominance alone.

Yep, he was a star player at age 19. A super-star at age 20.

No other player can say the same.

So if he can keep up this great play for a few more years, his longevity will look amazing.

the amazing about lebron imo, is his ability to add to his repertoire. His work ethic is often underrated, he has added post game, 3point shooting, 2 pointing shooting amongst other weapons to his offensive aresenal. people were always saying he was getting by with insane athleticism, but if you watch heat games, bron has been playing using less and less. He may somewhat lost his full court fast break abilities in his later years, but he still has enough to make up with his half court set. Quite amazing imo

He's only 28. Got at least 8-10 years left. Plus, he doesn't or won't need to strain himself as much with a great supporting cast where he had to do 80% of scoring/play making like he did in CLE. If Bosh AND Wade have off NIGHTS like they did in the semi and finals, they still got guys like Beasley, Cole, Chalmers, Haslem to step up.

Why is that amazing? Most of the best players get better with age and add things to their game each year. Jordan, Magic, Hakeem, Barkley almost all of the greats. Hakeem wasn't at his best til he was 30. This isn't rare at all. The great players keep learning and realize that as their athleticism begins to wane that they need to learn to be effective in other ways

What's amazing is how incredibly durable he is being that athletic. Part of it has to be his work ethic which rarely gets talked about. He's gotta be up there with MJ and Kobe in terms of work ethic.

and you're absolutely right. my post was in response to the people that said he was going to decline once he hit his physical decline. but in my opinion, this is an amazing thing, look at the players you listed, it is a list exclusive to amazing players. this is an amazing, even though other players do it

...Yes, most of the BEST players added things to their game.

And that is why they are known as legends now.

In only talking about the best players, you already filtered out the players with bad work habits and you didn't even realize it.

For every Barkley, there was a Melo, Steve Francis, and Shawn Kemp that didn't work on their game and that is a major reason why they aren't known as the best.

Yeah and you know what. Melo, Francis and Kemp were never on Lebrons level. He's been on a different level than them since jumpstreet so he doesn't need to be compared to lesser players. He should be compared to his peers who are the best of this best and that's that. Don't waste your time comparing apples to oranges. Those dudes aren't in his league. Not a lebron fan but I'm not blind. Trying to put him and Melo in the same category is laughable. Like laughable. Melo has never nor will ever make anyone better.

It doesn't matter that you believe they were never on that level. We're just discussing improvement.

It matters that they started as 7's and only got to an 8 and never improved too much in any facet of the game.

Lebron started as an 8 and is now a 10. His jump shooting started at a 3 or whatever and now is an 8. His defense started at a 5 and now is a legit 8 or whatever.

I've read articles about Kemp and he actually is said to have had a solid work ethic for awhile. His jumper improved a whole lot, and after the 96' Finals, some people were calling him the game's best PF over Malone.

I guess it got bad when his personal problems took over.

LeBron showing why he's top 10 all-time (hopefully only) halfway through his career.
Guys like him, Jordan and Kobe are a rare breed.
