If the odds are 1 in 259 million and the jackpot is bigger than that, by all means, spend half your winnings and get 259 million tickets for a dollar. In theory you should have a great chance to win.

I've always found this hilarious about the USA. I remember reading a while back that the winner of Survivor was in trouble since he didn't record his winnings under tax, etc.

From what I understand here in Australia, anything you win or find, is not taxable. Although the interest from the winnings is if it sits in a back account.
I honestly don't understand how some of these lottery winners go broke. If you have even something like $30 mil sitting in a 5% account, you don't really need to work or anything, and can spend your money pretty comfortably.

Most stores stop selling tickets around 9pm on the day of the drawing, possibly 10pm in some areas. Drawings for the Mega Millions take place every Tuesday and Friday night at 11pm.
