Yes, but they would end up sacrificing things they do particularly well. If they trade for Rondo, their spacing suffers and their defense also takes a hit. The trade off just wouldn't be worth it for the Pacers to make this kind of move.
And the way you describe it here, you act like this team didn't come within a game of making the NBA Finals last season and are playing significantly better basketball than they were a year ago.

The pacers need a PG if they want to beat the Heat. I'd say Goran Dragic? Efficient scorer, underrated pg and can shoot the ball

would the trade idea work if you replace rondo with dragic?
asik + hill to suns bledsoe can become a starting PG with hill as a solid back up,
the addition of asik would make em even deeper

In fact, there isn't a five man unit that has logged over 100 minutes so far playing better than them.
Hill isn't a traditional playmaking point guard, but then the Pacers don't really need one considering they find ways to get their playmaking from other places and take advantage specifically of things both George and Stephenson do well. If they traded for a ball dominant point guard like Rondo, it would end up making George a less dynamic player and completely cut Stephenson off at the knees from being effective on offense. Not to mention, you wouldn't have the added bonus of having a player who can knock down shots like Hill when one of those two (or West for that matter) have the ball.
Finally someone with some sense and who actually watches the Pacers play. The Pacers don't NEED anybody else. They can win the title as they are constructed. That doesn't mean that they will...

nah brah even if they can pass the heat, they will lose to thunder, very bad match up, durant is freaking long, westbrook would eat hill alive, and perkins defense is pretty good against big center like bynum howard etc, finally some use

Asik would make the suns too slow and not worth it for goran dragic, he and bledsoe orchestrate the offense together and do it well.

how the hell does rondo make them worse defensively?
There's a big asterisk with your last comment as well:
*playing significantly better against inferior competition
they're most recent meeting, pacers made the same fatal mistakes by turning over the ball. Paul George is having a career year, but he was made irrelevant by Lebrons defense.

Re: Rondo to Pacers, Granger to Rocket, Asik+ Hill to Boston
Anyone who thinks Rondo would make the Pacers worse is a straight up moron.
He has a low usage percentage, he make Perkins look good, he beasts in the playoffs and he perfectly sets up teammates for jumpers... Oh and he's also a first team defender, and all he's done in the offseason is work on his jumper since he couldn't run.
He's miles better than George Hill, and won't panic against the Heat.

I know its all about matchups but if they beat the Heat, I have no worries about any other team they would face. Miami is the best team in the NBA.
