New InsideHoops registrations will no longer be a rare thing.

We will open them every Sunday or Monday (or both) from now on. Then close them, and people have to confirm they are a live human being, and then they'll be confirmed sometime during the week.

Probably Sunday mornings around 10am or whatever. Not right at midnight.

Have you considered my reCAPTCHA suggestion? Easy/free to implement, and if non-human spammers get past that I will eat my hat.

I got a quick question. Why not keep it open all the time? Do you have to send the email after they register? I thought the board did it automatically...

Because InsideHoops is the greatest message board in the history of civilization, tons of spambots try to join, and often get past the spam filters or whatever. Until we find a way to permanently stop it, we'll open registration for a day or two per week, then the person has to send us an email mentioning their username, and then we confirm it and delete the rest.

It's a lot more work for us, but oh well

I never even won my Science fair, I got a participation ribbon...not even third...
