no it creates a GPS record of where you are the very second you take the picture...your phone does it, and it is extremely precise, even capable of pinpointing the exact room you are in

Yeah most new phones have this setting turned on by default. I saw it but didn't care much until my wife made me turn it off.

No geotagging data is embedded into the photo itself, has nothing to do with how its uploaded.

I initially got this app as a way to find out where nearby restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc.etc were located. But it also shows you where Facebook and other social media users are located. It pinpoints their exact distance and location which is very creepy.
