It doesn't need to be a special skill. Just needs to be something where not everybody knows how easy it is to do something. For example, you could sit down and eat as many hot dogs as you can in 10 minutes. You will then know how many hot dogs you can eat in that much time. Then in the future when you and your buddies are hanging out and putting wieners in your mouths, you could casually start talking about hot dog eating contests and eventually the conversation will lead to a bet.
