i've been a Matthew McCon fan......
for a very long time, even though I've generally hated all the movies he did in the past (romantic comedies) playing the same character over and over again. But these past 2 years. He has really proven himself and his super stardom has risen tremendously. I'm not talking about box office hits or raking in the cash because he's been able to do that with those romantic comedies. But now, he's not only keeping up with the hits, but with quality acting. I think in the past year he has proven himself as a top 3 actor currently active today, especially with such a talented pool of actors (Leo, Phoenix, Daniel Day Lewis, etc).

He's superb and worthy of the Oscar, however do people not realize he's fortunate to be playing characters with depth and has some of the best dialogue in Film/TV at his disposal.

so you are saying that he's the only Oscar winner to have ever played a character with depth and had the best dialogue?

This make no sense unless you think it's random why he has characters with depth and some of the best dialogue in Film/TV at his disposal.

Why does it not make sense?
He was known as being the lead in romantic comedies. He's now fortunate that he's playing characters with depth and has some quality dialogue to speak thus being given a chance to show off his acting skills.
Do people actually think the quality of the writing has nothing to do with an actors performance?

Do you really think the quality of the actor has nothing to do with the quality or the of the scripts that come his way?

If McConaughey didn't start starring in character driven roles with quality writing he'd still be known for doing Rom Coms. This is not in any way a knock on his acting. Seems like most people on here can't make that distinction.
You can have a great script ruined by a poor actor. You can't have a great acting performance if the script is a piece of shit.
How is this not being understood?
