Positive. People seem to have this weird way of being nostalgic and forgetful at the same time. Plus they'll probably enjoy congratulating themselves on voting in a black president - can't do that if you consider him a monster.

He will probably have a positive legacy. Financial regulation and healthcare reform will probably be viewed as wins in the future.

Whether he deserves it or not he's going to have a positive reputation as the first nonwhite Pres. The US media is socially liberal, I'm not saying they're economically liberal but they are definitely socially liberal and they will promote Obama

Positives will include the affordable care act.
Giving hope to minorities
Getting rid of don't ask don't tell and other things to help the gay community
Modernizing and streamlining the military
Reducing the budget deficit

Negatives will include keeping place the Bush tax cuts for the bottom 98%
Not reinstating Glass-Steagall
The prosecution of whistleblowers
Violating the fourth amendment rights of Americans
Secretly bombing countries we are not at war with, though to be fair that's basically all presidents at this point
His administration's interpretation of due process
His failure to enact campaign-finance reform

Stuff he gets credit for but probably shouldn't
Leaving Iraq, we tried to stay in Iraq but the Iraqis wouldn't give immunity to our troops
Eventually when we leave Afghanistan for the same reason as above

Stuff he will get blamed for but doesn't deserve blame
Increasing the total debt of the United States
A weakening of the US of global position

We'll have to revisit it in 5 or 10 years when we can see the effects of Obamacare and his other work, it's too soon now.

As a moderate-liberal Californian (so probably "raging liberal" to most), I'm really quite disappointed with Obama, and see him as George W Bush v 2.0, particularly regarding foreign policy. At this point in time I don't believe he was a good president but it is too early to say for sure.

Obama foreign policy scares me he nearly got us in a war with syria with his "red line" crap and world leaders like putin are embrassing him.

1. First black president.

2. Healthcare reform.



Outside of that, his presidency has been fairly forgettable... which typically bodes well for a President's legacy.

It's way too early to say. At this point in the reign of George Bush things that still lay ahead were

A campaign to privatize Social Security (going on about this time in 2005)
Hurricane Katrina
The financial crisis.

The Surge still lay ahead as well.

One thing that if it works out seems like it will be part of his legacy, his thawing of relations with Iran and Iran dropping its nuclear weapons program. Lots of big IFs on that one.

There's like 45 months of his presidency to go.
