Not exactly. Superman and even its sequel were really big movies back in the late '70s/early '80s. The Batman movie that came out in '89 was even bigger. It was the highest grossing movie of '89 beating out Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade by over $50 million. And, in fact, it was the 5th highest grossing movie of all-time for a bit.
There used to be a The Incredible Hulk TV show that aired on CBS back in the late '70s/early '80s that was aimed at adults. I imagine some kids probably got nightmares from that show.
Kid-friendly or something that might haunt your kids' nightmares?
