Actually it does, whether it was intentional or not.
The most important person in your life is you. Socialization has led us to believe that you should put others before yourself. This is one of the biggest problems people often encounter. It's often why people don't get what they want in life.

Grew up in South Africa and the equivalent of the boogeyman there is this evil f*cker called the Tokoloshe. This evil dwarf piece of shit goes around biting off people's toes if they leave them exposed at night. Young Dadda spent a few sleepless nights waiting on this c*cksucker to show up so I could catch him slippin and get the drop on him. To this day, still don't feel 100% comfortable with my feet not being under the covers when I sleep.
Didn't personally believe this, but I convinced a bunch of dumbass classmates that I could run faster and jump higher once I pumped this bitches up:
