Default If there were playoff MVP's instead of Finals MVP's

What years do you think would have had different winners? I think the following would have changed

    1980- Kareem over Magic
    1981- Bird over Maxwell
    1985- Magic over Kareem
    1988- Magic over Worthy
    2004- Rip over Billups
    2007- Duncan over Parker
    2008- KG over Pierce

Kareem was the MVP of the entire playoffs and the Sixers series alone as well. 2001 is a close call. Kobe was the MVP of the Spurs series and Shaq was the MVP of the Sixers series and the first 2 rounds they were neck and neck.

I was close to putting that one, but it seemed too close to call imo

Did Dirk have better substantially better playoff stats than Wade in the earlier rounds?

2004 I would have given it to Big Ben. The '04 Pistons were perhaps the GOAT defensive team and he was their defensive anchor and him and Rasheed were the biggest keys to their success. Billiups wasn't even really one of the leagues premier PGs yet, he reached that level the following season.

Kobe was the MVP of the 2001 WC playoffs

Go you one further, it should be regular season + post season performance to determine the totality of the league's true MVP. Just my opinion though.

2014 - LeBron instead of Durant
2011 - Dirk instead of Rose
2010 - Kobe instead of LeBron
2009 - Kobe arguably instead of LeBron
2007 - Duncan instead of Dirk
2006 - Wade instead of Nash
2005 - Duncan instead of Nash
2002 - Shaq instead of Duncan
2001 - Shaq instead of Iverson
1997 - MJ instead of Karl Malone
    1995 - Hakeem instead of D. Robinson
1993 - MJ instead of Barkley

My fear with that is they would just give it to the best player on the championship team anyway, so regular season MVP would equal playoffs MVP 99% of the time

If there was an MVP for each series in '01 this is how it would go down...

    2001:
vs. Blazers - Either, hard to pick.
vs. Kings - Could go with either, Shaq dominated first two games and Kobe the last two.
    vs. Spurs - Kobe
    vs. Sixers - Shaq
