Remember Kobe and Melo are good friends.
They grew close playing on team USA together.
For that fact would not be surprised if he does end up one the Lakers.

Even if Lakers get Melo they would be a 7th seed at best
This basically handicaps their cap space for future younger free agents in the coming years
