I'd say Eminem. Half of his songs are garbage, yet he's won the most grammy, sold the most records, and has had a huge influence on pop culture.

Jay-Z is the most overrated, followed by Kanye West.

Eminem, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne to me.

I really don't see anything special about Lil Wayne, especially putting him up there with the likes of the greatest. Shit, dude's voice makes me cringe sometimes.

Eminem is as talented as they come and he's still an all-time great but half his catalog is literally garbage and the other half doesn't have an Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, etc. type album to partially make up for that. Encore is literally one of the worst hip hop albums ever made. He gets way too much credit for being deep when it comes to his family/life issues, yet there's plenty of rappers out there that have been just as deep when it comes to that. And some of that subject matter of Eminem's, specifically about his mom, ex-wife, and daughter, is so overdone it comes across as whining to me. His mainstream popularity mainly comes from the fact that he's a marketing genius that capitalized on the typical teenage whiteboy demographic with his incredibly corny singles, rebellion against his family, pop-star beefs, and just the skinny white blonde look. Don't get me wrong though, he's still an amazing MC. He's had some of the best verses I've ever heard, especially his older stuff (late 90s/early 00s).

Jay-Z is an all-time great as well but he's been garbage for like the last 10 years as well. That's the only reason I really call him overrated. He's a marketing genius as well though with his numerous gimmicks like his retirement and then multiple comebacks, proclaiming himself the Jordan of rap, etc. I think a lot of the perception of his greatness as a rapper is greater then it should be because of his incredible success in other ventures, which really no rapper comes close to. So its almost like blasphemy to say anything Jay-Z does nowadays isn't the greatest thing ever.

that is true, and jay woke him out of his slumber, guess jay needs that adversary to challenge him again

Only Wayne called himself that and he stole a verse from Jay-Z to promote himself.

    How fitting, both are overrated.

    American gangster and BP3....garbage rapping?

Id say his worst music was like 97-2000. The dumb down for my audience to double his dollars days.

He's was off for like 2005-2010ish. I've like his newer stuff. Didnt like AG or BP3 that much.

Wayne was hot until around 2010 ish. His mixtapes were straight fire and anyone denying it is either lying or didnt hear them. He definitely fell off though. Now people act like he was never good.

Blueprint 3 had so many cheesy tracks and on american gangster he sounded lazy as hell.

But between 97 and 2000 he put out great music. The dynasity is such an underrated album : epic intro, soon you understand, i just wanna love you.... the list goes on and on. I can

Tupac is mediocre as hell. He's absurdly overrated. He isn't even in the realm of GOAT tier. Not even close.

Jay-Z and Kanye fall under the same category. Both pretty simplistic lyrically but super overhyped.

Wayne is actually underrated for this reason IMO...every time his name comes up it is to express hatred toward him, I don't think I have ever seen him praised. His name never comes up in debates of who the greatest are.

Jay does get praise though, and can be found on top-10 ALL TIME lists as a rap legend...so he could actually be overraated

Immortal Technique has trouble staying on beat. So overrated after his Dance with the Devil song that got all the hippie bandwagoners on his d!ck.
