Cell Phone Carrier Opinions?

My contract with Verizon is up in 9 months and I've been researching on what would be the best option for me to go.

Personally in my area Verizon has the best coverage as far as cell phone reception and data is concerned, but the most expensive as well. The next best option for coverage is U.S. Cellular, then Sprint. AT&T is horrible here and not sure on T-Mobile (zip code is 54650).

Anyway I've been looking into things like Straight Talk. which is $45/month unlimited text/data/talk per phone, but the issue is finding a phone that is compatible with their system.

Any opinions on what I should look into?

Not much at all on both those counts. For example my bill is due in 2 days and I've used 150 minutes of talk time in 28 days. I would say I don't even use 400 to 500 minutes in a month, ever...

Ask for data that's a little tricky, but I'm usually able to keep it under 1GB, I could probably keep it under 500MB as well. Right now with 2 billing days left I've used 250MB of data.

Also you can bring any unlocked phone to straight talk. I Brought my At&t phone over with my same number. Or you could buy a phone through them. They have Iphones and galaxies now

I've leaned towards straight talk for a short while, you can use some phones that use Verizon's towers on Straight Talk, the issue is figuring out which ones would do that. I'd like to purchase m phone myself like off eBay or something versus through the Straight Talk store.

There's forums out there that has a lot of info on it. I thought they stopped using Verizon towers but I could be wrong.

Best bet is to google it. Wish I knew what forum I was on but it was awhile ago

HaHa, I have Chromecast already, I'd resale it.

RW is superior to StraightTalk, SimpleMobile, Lyca, etc.

Only downfall is they only have two phone options.

There are tons of phones compatible with their service. Any AT&T/T-Mobile phone will work with Straight Talk. ATT/TMo = GSM, where Verizon = CDMA. Also, any GSM unlocked phone like the Nexus 5 will work on Straight Talk

Meh, no LTE no care. Their 4g is slow... I've seen like 6.5 mbps max.

Good thing about straight talk is you can get the ATT sim card, and run off their towers, so you'll get good coverage, and LTE speeds.

I used it in Phoenix and all over LA County and it shat on all the other comparable companies. Worked better than my friend who has AT&T in most places as well.

Yes, it is so slow that I'm able to stream games on Firstrow with no issues on it, whilst using the 3G plan.

I couldn't careless about the towers used as I've had zero issues with dropped calls nor browsing on any site.

Net10, for example, uses both Verizon/AT&T towers depending on if you have a CDMA or GSM phone, and I had numerous drop call issues.
