Default Does LeBron Try To Copy Oscar Robertson?

Given LeBron's physical gifts it would seem he could easily put up 40/12/6 but instead shoots the ball less to save his fg% and get more assists in order to be a copycat of Oscar Robertson.

Anyone else think this is true?

He can't score 40 ppg, people don't actually realize how physically and mentally exhausting (yes mentally exhausting you have to be "on" every possession) to average even 30+ ppg.

You also need either an explosive Iverson/Jordan like first step or some kind of money mid-range shot (which he's inconsistent at) to be able to score at that pace comfortably.

His physical gifts are overstated, yes he's strong, but he doesn't like to play a physical, punishing type of game. Speed wise he's a monster in the fast break, but in a half court offence he's not exactly the fastest first step player, he also lacks explosion off a two step take off (see 3ball's posts).

He's a great athlete, but he doesn't use his size/bulk effectively, and having that extra size bulk prevents him from being as fast as a smaller player, so it's not exactly ideal, probably why he is trying to drop a lot of weight now as he's getting older.

Kobe does have an extremely good mid-range jumper. Especially when it's on.

His first step is also considerably faster than LeBron's IMO. At 6'6 220 versus 6'8/6'9 (really) 240 it should be anyway.

To me Lebron is a combo of these players:

Magic- height, creative passing, triple double ability, versatility
Dr. J- Freak athletic scoring machine
Scottie Pippen- point forward, versatility on both ends
Big O- triple double ability, pass first players who get 27-30 a night
Karl Malone- Cut physique and size of the Mailman.

Numbers wise and the way they see the game, Bron is actually MOST SIMILAR to the Big O. In terms of versatility, he's most similar to Magic on offense and Pippen on defense. His freak athletic ability reminds of Dr. J in terms of where they dominate scoring, even though Bron is a much better three point shooter than Doc ever was. And once u put all that shit into the body of Karl Malone, u have the most versatile basketball player EVER!

LeBron has averaged 31.4, 30 and 29.7 PPG. He could score 30 PPG pretty easily at this point given how versatile and skilled his scoring has become.

He has a higher scoring average than all but MJ and Wilt throughout NBA history.

40? Maybe if he chucked a ton, but it would hurt his team

Lol, only twice in league history has someone averaged 40 points in a season, yet OP says LeBron should be doing this "easily"
