poker, sports bets, gambling etc
who here does it?
how did you start and progress or regress?
got any stories?
I just came off a 5K+ run the past hour playing on Pokerstars; that's my record of any single run. It took about 7+ hours and I was just catching my outs, sucking people out left and right. Feels good but it's mentally exhausting. I went outside for a smoke after and the world was 2D.
I remember in my town, the government sports bet set the odds on the 08 Celtics as a 3.35:1 underdog to the 22 win streak Rockets. I should have gone to a loan shark that morning but I was only in college.

Got into it once and won thousands but didn't quit.
You should quit and cash out because you won't get a run like that.
Start again when you run out of that money so at least you can use it for something good.

I know what its like to play 8 hours of poker a day making money. The gambling world is a dark place even if you are good enough to win. I rather stay out of it than to feel like shit.

I feel you Nathan.
I use to play 40-70 hours a week during college in the casinos. It was menacing to the brain.
but it's not a dark place. I met and networked with a lot of nice and useful people which benefited me outside the poker room. It's kind of like a neighborhood bar. Eventually the faces become familiar.

unless you are truly talented
bank roll management in poker, sports bets, is a lot tougher than people proclaim it to be for becoming a professional at it.
after you won 5k. don't be afraid to cash out early on your next run when your think its come to an end.
because now, you can afford it.

Re: poker, sports bets, gambling etc
Agreed.
I acknowledge that it was just pure luck and a little skill. I was hardly missing any draws and my big hands stood up for the most part. I took a few losses early on but they were in the micro stakes which emotionally prompted me to ante up and play bigger. Eventually, 25c blinds turned into 10$ blinds which gladly doesn't make me too uncomfortable. After all, you can't think of your chips as money but as tools.

Warriors 10 dollars to win title 260
Okc 30 to win title 195
And bulls winner EC 30 to win 105

Cash out please.
You are not going to get high runs like that on a software-style gaming. It is equivalent to playing computer slots except you got your hands and suckered everyone into it. The next victim will be you and another guy will be making the same thread elsewhere. They distribute the wealth around and collect the juice. They don't favor anyone because to keep everyone happy.

Re: poker, sports bets, gambling etc
I have a few friends that play tournaments and sit n go tourneys on Pokerstars or Fulltilt and have consistently been getting gains. On average they are breaking 30$/hour each with one or two huge 4 or 5 digit gains. However, they warn me it's terribly boring clicking a button all day despite the ease.

I'm pretty damn good picking winners. But I'll never put money on it. Then I'm not having fun watching sports, I'm worried about the money. I was never a gambling fan.

Re: poker, sports bets, gambling etc
I guess the key with sports betting is to always bet within your limit so you dont feel too horrible losing.
I had some fun nights watching my bets go down the drain due to buzzer beaters. The odds screamed bet all day and I was pretty certain of my bets; however.... Lebron..... and Bosh.... ughk.
