If I need a guard, West

    If I need a forward, Dr. J

aren't you clever in working out that one is a forward and one is a guard. Why don't you give yourself a congratulatory good-natured so we can all enjoy your triumph.

Wow this is close. They rank GOAT wise right around the same area for their respective positions at three or four. Even GOAT wise in general I would say they are right around the same neighborhood. Hell one is The Logo and the other was greatest player of all time in the ABA. It might really come down to what your team needs. Even though West was the better all around player and a true alpha dog, I think peak Doc was a more dominant player. Doc was also a very good all around player, So I think I would take Doc peak wise. GOAT wise at least in terms of NBA, I'm taking Mr. Clutch.

But for TOTAL PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL HISTORY (ABA AND NBA), I think Doc is the GOAT SF. And in the top 7-8 for TOTAL BASKETBALL HISTORY! Peep Doc's total resume and u will see what I'm talking about. Plus throw in his impact as well. He was the living legend (right with Kareem, but Doc was the one who catered hard to the mainstream) that Stern's NBA marketed to go with the current superstars strong in their prime in Bird and Magic. Doc was the aerial icon to go with Magic's and Bird's epic game on the ground.

    Fill seats??

There would be no pro basketball today without Jerry West. It would have died. West was enormously popular

Its close but I would rather have West. Dr.J never dominated in the NBA Playoffs to the extent West did, and Mr. Clutch nickname was given for a reason

This is tough one because it has a lot to do with the makeup of the team. I'll pick West if my team needs outside shooting, but I'll pick J if my team plays a running game. Both were great defensive players, by the way.

Dr. J was not a great defensive player. Jerry West was. So I take West.

    Jerry West, but it's close.

Despite being in most people's top 12, I still think Jerry West is underrated. One of the few players who had no weaknesses in his game.

He wasn't even the most popular player on his team, let alone his era.
