    Default 2012 "Linsanity" Appreciation Thread

This was the year that Jeremy Lin showed that anything is REALLY possible. He was like the 12th man on the bench for the knicks at the start of the 2011-12 season. D'antoni had no faith in this kid until Melo told him to give him a chance. D'antoni listened to Melo and gave 12th man Lin a chance of a lifetime. Lin became the knicks leader for a short time during that last half of the season by leading them in assists and top 3 in points. He also had a game winner at Toronto, causing frenzy in other arenas and especially at MSG.

He had Chinese and Taiwanese people very proud, representing them and their culture very well at that time. "Linsanity" spread across the world very quickly having many girls wanting to date and marry him. He was humble, from sleeping on Landry Fields couch to sleeping in his own apartment in the city. Yes, Lin's stellar half season will never be forgotten.

What do you appreciate about 2012 "Linsanity"?

This Cinderella story was manufactured by the NBA to increase ratings. Every team was in on it. Give Lin his time to shine in the 'Mecca of Basketball'. Schit is WWE like yo.

This is not what I want. He can't be the hero here, that's gotta be me or else. He has got to go.

And that coach gotta go too.

The sad thing is that I don't think "Linsanity" will ever happen again... unless he comes back to the knicks.

As someone with no affiliation with the Knicks or Jeremy Lin, that was one of my favorite extended moments in NBA history. After his first start blowup, it was a gift that kept on giving. I didn't have TV access to all of his games so I'd follow through updates & gamecasts if nothing else.

It was crazy to be watching one NBA game, only to get an update that Lin was at it again, dropping 23 & 10. Or putting up a 38 spot. Then he crossed John Wall and exploded for a dunk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdFXOjGaNxc) or he was leading comebacks on ABC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcKZhdWH3tE). And of course, that Raptors game-winner exploded the universe.

Just incredible to watch and experience as a basketball fan.
