    when you adjust for population, texas still has a higher rate of violent crime than NY.

    Since the mid 1990s, NYC's been pretty good with handling its violence.

    Yeah, above is a state to state comparison, but obviously NYC would be a giant factor in that as it it's almost half the state's population.
