I don't get why they need to ban anything. Foreign law already doesn't apply in the US right?

Yes and no. In situations where there is no clearcut US law; we lean on interpretation of foreign courts to make legal determinations. As you can imagine this doesn't happen very often.

I just don't see what this is preventing or any situation this can be applied to. Can you give an example?

To our village idoit: On Alabama baning Sharia Law
(Village-idiocy, or at least idiocy, applies to anyone who applauded him in his thread)
I actually did not to reply to your rent free threads, since you never reply to any fact presented to you (not an easy copy and paste exercise), but I am hopeless.
You don't need to answer my question here either. Just go to your newly elected representative an help him draft a bill against Aztecan human sacrifices in Iowa.

It's completely stupid, waste-of-time, "feel-good" legislation. Wasting tax payer dollars coming up with garbage legislation that panders to their base who think "the mulin's are comin' to git us!" and accomplishes absolutely nothing.

Re: Shariah Law Gets BANNED by Alabama
This bill actually helps and protect Muslim Americans just as much as the country from preventing the use of Sharia Law.
Why? Big fortune 500 companies are using Sharia Law (foreign law) to win them cases against Muslims who have migrated over to the United States.
Like I said, stop getting your towels in a knot.
I have proof too but I like to use my ammo wisely. If the next idiot tries to challenge me. I have proof. All 600 pages.

What if I went to State Legislatures with the backing of certain Civil Rights groups like CAIR and the NAACP and positioned that the denial of Shariah Law infringes on my religious rights to practice it as is customary for Muslims across the world??
So when spineless, political hacks cave to my demands, I now have the government backing to decide and undertake the stoning of my wife if I deemed her unfaithful.
And if my son turns out gay, I can kill him.
So yeah. Shariah law is shit, created by shitty people.

But that stuff is already illegal in America.
And if someone made a law to make it legal, it would never pass constitutional muster.
So.... this law is pointless.

Honor killings and killings under Shariah Law can easily make its way into society, just as "crimes of passion" are considered somewhat excusable and can get some people off (as in freed).
It's not too far-fetched as some of you may think.

Preventative measures regardless of what people think about the law.
By passing this, it will set precedent for other states to do the same, hopefully in the near future, so we don't have to bend over backwards for people.
If CAIR is pissed about this, then there is a reason. If it is no big deal then I don't see why CAIR is all pissed about it.

The day that anyone tried to impose sharia in the United States, there would be a muslim cleansing. It would never happen, so yes it was a huge waste of time for Alabama.
