I don't like doing side work, sometimes I make real shitty money, and sometimes I serve complete assholes. But I love the people I work with, my management, and serving people, so I'd say about an 8/10.

I do enjoy my job... I get work on my own and I like the people I work for. I do gardening/landscaping. I made a lot more installing solar panels but so many things about that job sucked. Was the money worth it? Yea it made it worth it. It's trading your happiness at work for more peace of mind and options outside of work. Right now I have more happiness at work, but less peace of mind.

Overall it's a 7/10. If I made 50 g's + it would be a 9/10. It won't ever be my passion, but something I don't mind doing with total peace of mind outside of work able to save up to not work some day? That's legit.

I really, really like my career. Love is a strong word.

I would love to be an NBA player or coach... or a professional musician.

I was presented the opportunity to build a nest egg and a level of comfort that I'd probably never find in sports/news reporting.

I took it... and I think it was the right choice.

    Gotcha.

I used to want to work in the newspaper industry full time, but had many of the same fears and concerns. I have several years experience of working as a freelancer, but started to see limited room for growth, and like you, I didn't see a great future.

pros: never boring, rewarding, being in control of what you do and don't do.

cons: high stress, high workload, difficult situations that stay with you after hours, sometimes dealing w/ nasty court personnel.

Yes it is. But you get great hours to do whatever you want and vacation time. If you like kids well you would love this job.

Don't love it but I like it.

    Pros:
Interesting work a lot of the time
    Very flexible schedule
Get to travel 5-6 times per year
    Really good healthcare/dental
    Awesome co-workers
    Public service oriented business

    Cons:
    Could be making more elsewhere
Company not managed all that well (small business)
    Limited advancement opportunities
    Clients communication is poor
Occasional 60-70 work week for deadlines

I will probably stick it out for another year here and either get my CFA and move on or go to grad school. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.

I seem to recall some posts of yours from when you were in high school. You and a few others. Doesn't seem that long ago. Now, people are off working in the "real world." Time sure does fly.

    Pros:

    Always overtime
Work with some really great people
    Work place is nice
Get to meet a lot of interesting people including famous ones
    Really local to me

    Cons:

    Money could/should be better
Can be very long hours. Minimum day is 12 hours so when I say long it's usually 16-17.
    Job can be very confrontational

    got a question for you...

in law school could you pick out the people who were going to end up on a billboard somewhere hocking their services for DUI, Bankruptcy and Divorce?

So far so good. Not terribly in love with the current incarnation, but I hope to move on in the next 1-2 years.

    8/10: After School Program

I'm a student so I needed a part time job and I got one that is fun, dynamic, regular/fixed hours to build around, and really great pay.
