Just a thought: The guy touted as perhaps the greatest athlete and strongest athlete in the history of the sport who could score 50 a game on 50% or 24 a game on 70% would very likely demolish the guy who is about his weight but much much less athletic, weaker in strength, and peaked at 25ppg on 52% or 18 a game on 55%

I believe that if you put prime Yao in the 1960s, he would put up similar scoring stats to Wilt. His size and skill would be too much.

A PRIME "scoring" Wilt had a decent range of up to 15 feet. He was ROUTINELY hitting "Duncan-like" bank shots from that range, as well. He would have been WAY quicker than Yao, and would have bullied him every bit as much as a prime Shaq did. Not only that, but with Chamberlain's strength, Yao would not have been able to back him down, and with Wilt's length, and leaping ability,...well, if a 35 year old Chamberlain could knock a PEAK Kareem's "unblockable" sky-hook all over the gym...sorry, but Yao would have struggled to score on Wilt.

The NBA ROUTINELY created "anti-Wilt" rules, aimed strictly at Chamberlain. Do you honestly believe that they would have allowed Wilt to play like this?

Yao would be putting up a skills clinic over Wilt, sorry to say. He would be hitting hook shots, fadeaways, jumpshots and layups over Wilt. Wilt would get dizzy trying to keep up with Yao's post moves.

So Wilt blocked several Kareem sky hooks? Big deal. Pretty sure Kareem knocked down more sky hooks over him too.

Shaq had trouble against Yao (blocked his ass several times). And that was a rookie Yao.

The man played four years at UCLA, and against far inferior competition than in the NBA...and averaged 5.7 ppg.
