McGary + Adams + trade assets + cap space + cash + butterfly effect

OKC is MUCH better off without Harden and with two legit big men in Adams and McGary.

You can't have three guys who need the ball. Westbrook is MUCH better player than Harden. It's not even close. Harden is only good when he hogs the ball and plays his style of basketball, and he's the worst defender in the league.

OKC has the best young trio of big men in the league. Kanter/McGary/Adams and are filled with nice role players. We haven't even seen what a healthy Thunder team looks like.

The Harden trade was the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. We will be contenders for the next 15 years because of it.

They basically got Lamb, 1 year of Kevin Martin, and the draft picks that became Adams & McGary out of the trade. Lamb has been an end of rotation type guy mostly, Martin had 1 good RS before underwhelming in the playoffs (imo), and Adams has been solid thus far. I liked McGary going into the draft and looks like he'll be a useful energy big off the bench, as long as he stays healthy.

So, they basically traded a top 5 player & MVP candidate for a starting C and a backup PF/C on cheap rookie deals. Martin & Lamb were kinda the filler of that trade, in hindsight. Those two bigs are the saving grace of that deal- if they blew those picks, or didn't even get them in the trade, this would a catastrophically bad trade.

Even then, how many people would/wouldn't trade a young starting C, young energy bench big, 15mpg role player, and expiring 6th man for an MVP talent? Not to mention, Harden was actually great against LAL and SAS en route to that Finals appearance. He was bad once they got there, but they don't beat the Spurs without him. He's underwhelmed in Houston, but how many people expected him to out-duel Durant in 2013? He deserves plenty of flack for last year vs. Portland, though.

I know Tyson Chandler had his share of health problems back then, but the doctor that recommended rescinding that trade when they weren't giving up much did kinda set them back. Given how many games he missed, they likely still get Harden in the draft. Would also have Jeff Green as a 6th man. Considering how the team broke up, it's likely they wouldn't have kept all 6 of those guys, but talk about assembling talent...

They could have had Harden + Chandler

Cheapskate clowns didn't want to pay. Their shitty management is LITERALLY costing them a championship. Haven't won more than 2 conference finals games since the Harden trade.

It ranks up there as one of the the worst ever. Think of what Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka could have done if Clay Bennett wasn't an awful owner.

    Oh well...woulda, coulda, shoulda!

Miami super friends had to collude to get their big three. OKC drafted all theirs in house, 3x MVP caliber players ... then said forget it and ditched one of them for a bag of peanuts w/ a side of pocket lint just as he was hitting his prime because of stinginess. Jesus.

Harden never would have been an MVP level player if he was playing behind Durant and Westbrook.
