A concept in and of itself that clearly does not exist in a culture that thinks it's a fun snack idea to go to a restaurant that serves you still-living disemboweled animals on your plate. Eat it's lower half while it's upper half is still alive writhing in pain. Yeah, not okay. Japan is also the only country that has not banned whaling. The hunting of what everyone else on the planet seems to understand is a highly sentient kind of animal that lives a long time, breeds slowly, and is in danger of extinction. Japanese don't give a ****, they really are barbarians when it comes to food.

Like I said, in our society we TRY to minimize suffering, over exploitation, etc. We don't condone activities such as eating something alive while it's guts hang out.

why do you think those who hunt deer are taught to aim for the most deadly blow to kill the deer in seconds? Instead of shooting it in the leg and let it die from bleeding for 24 hours? It's the more humane thing to do. Obviously not killing it in the first place would be the most humane, but it's the food chain, survival of the fittest. Some animals were bred to be predators, some to be preys. It's the norm to consume whatever is below your food chain, but you shouldn't take it for granted. I don't know how this correlation first started, but it seems that the smaller your eyes are and the yellower your skin, the more likely you are to engage in disturbing and out of the norm activities.
