dude, where's my shaq?
Re: Why does that rule exist where u can't intefere with the ball while its still in the
idk it's a rule that doesn't make complete sense but is fair for both sides so it's not complained about. the only interference rule should be that a ball isn't allowed to be touched on the way down for a defender but once it makes contact with the rim or backboard it's fair game to be blocked or put backed but you're gonna have a hard time changing a rule that doesn't have a real reason to be changed.

Why is alley oop not offensive interference anyway? It is literally the same.

not for long imo
and to respond to this thread:
1. I hope we can all agree goaltending is a rule that benefits the game, or else you just get a javale mcgee to put his hands inside the basket and you play 0 defense
2. based on 1 the defensive players can't interfere with the basketball above the rim or on its way down
3. to make the game equal for both defensive and offensive players the offensive players can't interfere with the basketball when it is above the rim, but they can interfere with it on it's way down, hence alley-oops are legal.
it is a fair, simple, rule.

The **** is wrong with you guys. (not everyone on this thread, but quite a few)
He comes on to ask a question about basketball on a basketball forum. Regardless of his knowledge level, he wants to learn.
He asks a rule specifically about THE NBA. And you guys jump on him like flies on shit.
Were you guys always so knowledgeable? Shit, half of you are idiots already that don't know anything. Watch ESPN, look at a few advanced stats, and boom you're a basketball genius. (Who couldn't tell me what a horns set is without looking it up on the internet)
Keep asking questions man. Ignore the idiots that try to keep this board down.
