Cool statline that nobody ever pulled in a Finals series - nor his triple-double in 1986.

Very rarely you see a superstar hustling and being as physical as Larry Bird was in that series, take notes...
Young Bird was an extremely gritty mf'er (even more than later on).

Said it many times before, with all due repect to Cornbread Maxwell, Larry clearly was the FMVP on that one...
Main reasons why he didn't take it was because he was very aloof towards the media those days, major no-****s-given attitude while Cedric was the opposite; plus back then you wouldn't even see total rebounds/assists for single players in most boxscores.

Bird played great D, hustled all out, he was easily the best playmaker for the series, 2nd best rebounder (almost rebounded as much as prime Moses), 3rd best scorer... And despite not being consistent with his scoring/shooting, he had some great games, was very clutch, and was the one who closed out the series with a great/clutch game6.

LB was definitely the most important, most valuable player for the winning team, the Celtics.
And Max benefited a lot from all the attention Bird was getting while Larry was setting him up for a lot of bunnies.

Same "situation", at least a decade or so later on? There's no way they don't attribute Bird with the FMVP...
