Well of course Russell is on the Lakers arguably the most popular team in the NBA so quite naturally the spotlight will be on him along with most of the hype. Plus he seems to be a good prospect. I agree with you that he and Okafor are in the spotlight because of the draft positions as well.

KAT was drafted by Minny so there won't be a lot of fanfare for him here. I'm not even sure I've seen any T-Wolves fans post here.
