NBA just broadcasted the first 4K game last season. It's hard to think with the new technology being used in the league that we wouldn't get an upgrade in video quality for games.

It will be a long time before we have regular broadcast, only 4k content we have now is through streaming and blu-ray disc later. We have zero live broadcast of 1080P/4k in the USA.

It's a shame that we have the technology to track player movement but can't bother bettering the viewing quality for the actual games.

Bruh 4k wont be mainstream for 10 years. Book it. There is currently no need and no profitability for media companies to broadcast in 4k.

Do even remember the quality of televisions were 10 years ago? We've all converted to an era of HDTV, and UHDTVs are already being sold and sought after. Cameras that shoot in 4K are already a norm.
There's always profitability for media companies to shoot in 4K, people don't settle for lesser resolution when they're able to view the clearest content available. 4K editions of movies will be sought after from people that own 4K displays, especially now where valuable UHD content is somewhat limited.
It's hard to see the NBA not make the jump from HD to UHD in the next decade. That seems highly unlikely since 10 years ago NBA games were probably recorded in 480p.
