Default People seem to forget that Nash was 26 before he became anything

So people expecting Russell to play like Jordan 4 games into his career should really lower their expectations.. he's not the most athletic player in the world and it will take him some time to adjust to the NBA.

He has some serious potential, I'm not saying he'll be as good as Nash, but when Nash was playing 30+ mpg and shooting 36% at like 24 years old nobody thought Nash would be good either..

People also seem to forget Nash didn't start playing until he was 13

Obviously the exception, not the rule

And sorry I don't ever see Deangelo working as hard as Nash did to become what he was

I don't see the same fire in Russell

D'Angelo Russell will never be Steve Nash. Russell doesn't even own a lunch pail.

People forget that NASH was in a league of his own when it came to the PG position. He was the only PG in the West all star games for some years (we will never see that happen ever again). All of his MVP's were earned. He transcended the position. Paved the way for the PG's of today

Agree, but people expect a 2nd overall draft pick to perform well from day 1. Lakers picked him instead of Okafor who is playing great already.

Nobody's saying that he should be playing like a ROY candidate immediately. So far, he's playing like shit and getting blown by opposing PGs.

He'll never be as good as Nash. Russell will be a journeyman in the NBA after his contract with the Lakers expires. He can still be a dominant player in the euroleague.

Billups would be a better career path to hope for.

He sucks. His ceiling is probably Andre Miller, but Miller averaged 17 ppg, and 11 apg when he played for the Cavaliers.

He'll never be as good as that guy.

    needs more love

btw, nash didn't have his big increase in assists and efficiency until exactly 2005 - that was when the hand-check ban was instituted, which made penetration easier, as the league intended..

All players, including Lebron, Kobe and others, saw big increases that year.. Infact, league-wide ORtg increased more than it had in 30 years.

Steve Nash was a smart player. Most of these kids coast on their athleticism.

Hahaha, Russel in his present condition would not make an Euroleague roster.
