Top-five in PER (player-efficiency rate), easily one of the best perimeter-oriented defenders in the league, and he's the statistical leader of the second-best team in the league.

Most underrated MVP candidate. Sadly, the MVP awardeeship isn't winnable to him as long a player named Stephen Curry is healthy; but even when missing the target in the moon, the scope of the crosshairs is bound to him land among the stars

That back to the basket game tho! Kawhi has an excellent in-between game and frankly in today's league it's just refreshing to see. He does not rely on just slashing/three pointers which makes him more dangerous as he becomes more confident in his post ups, hop steps in traffic, short fade aways, etc. I didn't think he'd become an All-Star so fast, but it today's league of up-and-comers and retiring-greats I think he qualifies

Improving on his ball handling and ball retention was key to him developing and expanding his offensive game. He's still not in his peak form.

The Spurs are 0-4 when Kawhi takes 18 FGA or more in a game... He's talked about passing Timmy in rings, how about passing it TO Timmy instead?

Technically the Spurs are 3-4 when Kawhi has attempted 18 field goals or more.

He's averaging 17 FGA per game in general... playing a career high MPG .... and the Spurs are 14-4...with arguably the best defense in the league.

So not too much to complain about right now. But I hear ya. Hopefully Kawhi's head doesn't get too big (although I think the confidence is a good thing, Duncan is pushing 40)

40 or 26, Timmy can ball.

Oh, I'm in total agreement. Duncan is one of the best basketball players to ever play the game... and that doesn't just fade suddenly with age... agility and athleticism sure, but Duncan is a winner through and through. In the last championship season (two seasons ago) he actually played the most total minutes out of everybody, which is a quietly remarkable feat imo. but he's more fragile nowadays and his mileage is insane. Offense should run more through him around playoffs. If it's a competitive game and Kawhi ends up having to take 16-20 shots versus 10-15 shots i don't think it's the end of the world, despite whatever the W-L record may be
