Default Good value bet: Kawhi for MVP next season

Let's assume that Duncan retires after this season, following a Finals win or loss most likely.

Spurs will then be in the new era of Aldridge and Kawhi core.

They will not be good enough to get similar record, but they should still be a 50+ team and maybe something like 55+.

Kawhi will then put up greater stats due, likely something like 24-8-4 with a DPOY level defense and 50-40-80 shooting at least.

How will that not be MVP?

At this point Curry fatigue will begin to set in and Lebron further declined. It will be between Durant and Kawhi and I'm betting Kawhi.

Now to find a bookie who will accept such a bet.

the value bet is putting it for THIS season son. The spurs are 4 games back with the warriors giving it all for their streak and the spurs are still gelling. Meanwhile the spurs are destroying team, first in all defensive stats, first in win margin and so on... with kwahi dropping serious stats AND being a beast on D.

Everybody is wetting their ***** over the metrosexual 3point chucking warriors but the real elephant in the room is the spurs are looking BEASTLY. Casual fans don't even see just how changed this team is.

You're not accounting for how much Porzingis will improve and grow this offseason.

they've addressed their most glaring problems from last season : defense and limiting duncan's minutes. They are blowing teams out with all time great defense, not by chucking, and this will make a world of difference in the playoffs, where they'll be the best team in the west barring major injuries (which would be unlucky given their minutes management).
Take it from somebody who has been watching ball for more than 20 years.

lol you really don't know how this shit goes do you? you make money on potential, that's why they're called a bets. Sometimes there are gimmies, like betting against the lakers this year (THANK YOU KOBE fans you've literally paid for my new car GOD BLESS YOUR MISGUIDED SOULS nigggas) ... but most often then not you go for the potential, that's where the money is at.
Kwahi for mvp this year of next year is a high payoff play. You also put something for curry but you'll get little in return. It's not about who wins, it's about maximizing your return.

I would prefer that Kawhi not win MVP for a while - don't want it going to his head. He's already well decorated for his age - he needs to become established as Spurs' first option and carry the team night after night, year after year.

your team doesn't need him to that yet on the offensive end. The spurs are a nice balanced offensive team. On the defensive end.. DAMN he carrying that load alright

Agree 100%, people don't even realize how much better this team is, their only weakness is backup center.

Kawhi is also way, way better than most people think. He began the season having some difficulties passing out of doubles, but already now he finds the open man well. Kawhi is leading the league in 3pt%, a feat no one really seems to acknowledge, he has the best mid range game of a small forward outside Durant, he has the BEST post up game of a small forward, he is by far the best perimeter defender.

Most of all he just doesn't make mistakes, 9/10 he makes the correct play.

I didn't see the huge potential that Pop did in years past, but as of now, I see Kawhi being a legitimate superstar for many years to come.
