Re: Is Steph the GOAT offensive player?
The are so many ways to look at this. MJ FOR SURE as a case with 10 scoring titles and having the all time PPG crown. Wilt does in terms of his sheer numbers in actual games like the 100. And averaging 50 PPG in season. Kareem has to be in the mix because of his longevity and having the most career points ever.
If you are talking the best blend of great scoring and genius level passing the rock, u got Bron, Bird, and Oscar in the mix. So when you are talking GOAT status, it's their resume being dominant offensive players. If it was just about skill scoring the rock, that opens it up. KD and Mamba get into the mix. When it comes to Steph he's FOR DAMN sure the GOAT shooter ever. And is arguably the best blend of shooting, handles, and dimes ever. His passing ability in VERY underrated.
IF I HAD TO GIVE an answer, I think it would have to be MJ. Because he was still a great passer from the SG position. Getting 8 dimes in a season and can swing to the PG easily if needed. Hell most of the today's top PG's think more like an MJ than they do a Magic or Isiah. Plus he's the most decorated in terms of scoring exploits. And he's among the most skilled scorers ever. He's a 10/10 in terms of midrange, slashing, and postups. He's a 10/10 in terms of his footwork and craftiness. He's a 10/10 when it comes to dominating with freak athletic ability. Plus still shot 84% from the line and 50% from the field for his career. Three point shooting is the only thing you can say he didn't do great. BUT that's something that was still just really coming into play in his era. He had the stroke to exploit the three ball more than he did.

It be dumb to create it anyway. A few idiots got caught up in the moment in 16 because thats what people do but steph isn't anywhere near to the goat scorer. He's not even the best scorer in his generation. He wasn't even the best scorer on his team for the majority of his chips.

That specific version of him in that regular season is the best offensive player ever. He had a 63 eFG%. Shooting long jumpers. Taking 20 shots a game.
Nobody has ever been that much of a threat on offense. You never had to worry about any other player from every spot in the halfcourt like you did him. Even when he didn't have the ball, you still had to account for him.
