Why is McGregor fighting Diaz again?

could be, but i doubt it. most likely if he loses again he goes back to taking out his rage on the 145 division and gets most if not all of his rep back.

of course he doesn't deserve a rematch in the first place, but he does get a big pass in the MMA community for failing to beat a bigger man.

that said, conor fought somewhat like an idiot the first time around. head-hunting against the diaz bros is a recipe for disaster. there is a specific plan for beating these guys and that wasn't it.

fighting at 170 is also a stupid idea IMO. the highest conor should be going is 155.

i don't think we know for sure how the conditioning thing plays out. YES-- nate took the fight on short notice without a camp, but if there's one thing a diaz bro is always going to have, it's conditioning... which is exactly how nate won that fight. also, conor certainly did not train to fight at 170 and obviously overestimated his energy the first time around. i do not expect that to happen again.

right now i have the fight as roughly a toss-up. McG is a smart man on the whole, and there are a tonne of adjustments i think he makes this time around.

that said, i'm not sure i have a single shred of respect left for dana and/or the UFC. this fight is a surefire money-maker, but there's no way he should have been fighting anyone but edgar (with aldo as the next possibility).

Just a money grab from the UFC. I really don't see the hype for this rematch though. Who wants to hear these guys (fake) talk shit again after they got all buddy-buddy after the first fight?
