Connor did pretty well in the first fight. Could beat him but really is a pointless fight. So what he can't beat a fighter in a higher weight class.

Not fighting Edgar is a joke. Not vacating the belt when he's ducking the division is a joke. A featherweight fighting a prepared lightweight at 170 is a joke and a freakshow. UFC is just letting Conor call the shots and it's only making MMA take a step back as a sport and becoming more like "sports entertainment".

UFC reigning McGregor in would be better for everybody, including McGregor's career. If he beats Diaz, which seems pretty damn unlikely at the moment, it doesn't even mean that much. The original fight, beating Dos Anjos for the belt? Would have made him a true global superstar. The rising featherweight superstar beating some journeyman lightweight doesn't have quite the same allure. However, McGregor losing again in worse fashion would make him look so bad. Career killer.

McGregor won't be caught off guard twice and I think he was a little unlucky in the fight. He was a bit sloppy on defense and allowed Diaz to take him to the ground which is a big mistake.

But I don't think the fitness is a big factor in this. I believe it will come down to timing and tactics.


I think McGregor took this fight way too lightly and I think the outcome will be different next time round with McGregor a lot more aware.
