Let turks go man... Those were the times some 500 years ago, Ottomans were simply the strongest/greatest and used their power accordingly.... They were many, wealthy, perceptive and were roaming around swinging with something equivalent of lightsabers (damascus steel for gods sake, which they invented, makes the most authentic japanese tamahagane nihonto katana perform/look like a butter knife, which is a lost secret/still bewilders forgesmiths), what did you expect... any group that powerful in the area at that time would have used the power one way or the other in their shoes... the only reason some South Europeans are butthurt really today is because they were Muslims, i mean if they were Christians they would have been praised to death, it would be Ottoman Empire > Roman Empire, museums about them in every country, books, movies about their awesomeness, "300" would be about 300 Ottoman warriors "This is Constantinople!!"(?) conquering/expanding Europe all the way to Asia, "Kill Bill" Uma Thurman would have searched up a Turkish Damascus Forgesmith instead, people would have their logo as a tattoo and shit, endless analogy / incidents.... they simply kicked arse, just be lucky they didnt exploit it fully, they could have done much more damage, perhaps taken over half/entire Europe if they went ham, lol... they had that power...

lol Nickie, says the guy who do them #1 service on ISH by not only just glorifying them everyday with the random mention of their name in any random thread in any context but even better actually confirming their ideology being the real Islam, everyday... you have alot in common... I prefer your delusion & absurdness in the NBA forum instead, at least its just basketball...

Now as an Islamophob be a good Laker fan and go praise your GOAT Laker (maybe GOAT player) terrorist statue at Staples Center, careful it doesnt blow up.... then go inside, listen to terrorist music (might be muslim artists afterall who knows), eat terrorist food, while watching a terrorist (Tarik Black) and former terrorists (african-"americans", including Kobe & yes Nick Young, considering up to 40% of the slaves were muslims before converting, their african names aswell) play basketball... you might be surrounded by some terrorists in the crowd aswell....

Spain/Italy vacations are nearly 50% more expensive this year, because nobody wants to go to Egypt/Turkey/Tunisia (muslim countries) anymore.
Something is telling me the black sea resorts are going to be full of drunk russian sluts this year

Its a disgrace to western civilization that the great city of Constantinople was allowed to remain in Muslim hands. Imagine if Rome was conquered and became a Muslim city - basically that.

However, I don't think Constantinople should become a Slav city. It should be akin to New York or Hong Kong, a trade and economic Mecca that protects Slav and Orthodox peoples interests. You cant have 10 million Orthodox-Greeks ruling over 200 million Orthodox-Slavs. Its just not viable, and its not realistic considering the Greeks are a forgotten power of the past, while the Russians are a global super power.
Ha, this is very true. Brits were always declaring war just to stop others becoming too powerful.

She was the game-**** of Europe for centuries, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. Involvement in the Crimea was clearly unnecessary, and in the long run, having Russia in a more powerful position in the East, would've helped limit German power in the 20th century. And the war, despite the result, was the beginning of the end for the Ottoman Empire.

You think Putin's longterm goal is Constantinopole?

Warmongers in Europe always talk about Ukraine and Baltics and how we need to look after them, but when you take a step back and look at his moves from a wider perspective it seems pretty clear to me that most of them are aimed at Turkey and Tsargrad specifically.

Crimea - launching pad into the Black Sea. You can launch Iskanders from there. You can put S-400s on there that would cover most of the sea, put air fuel tanks into the protected area and bomb the Turkish mainland indiscriminately once missiles take out turkish airports and weak AA systems.

Syria - other than securing friendly regime and the Latakia port the Russian involvement there is also serving to ostracize Turkey from their NATO allies. Regardless of what our leaders say most people in NATO have about had it with Erdogan. No European country would go to war for Turkey, especially if those idiots provoke it. Not even USA will, if Trump gets into the WH. That's why Russians keep baiting and provoking Turks into some huge fvck up that would require a big response.

Caucasus - obviously Turkish backyard, increased control over it can help in variety of ways, notably weapons smuggling to Kurds.

Southeast Europe - Putin is trying to strenghten his influence there as these countries would be pretty important in cutting Turkey off.

From what I understand he has also gotten much tighter with the Church over the last few years and has been whipping up the nationalistic fervor.

Not sure if Iskander can hit significant targets from Crimea, as they have only 500km range, but Russia can launch those from Syria. There was a rumor several weeks ago, there are several Iskander units already in Syria.

Its a nice dream but I think the days of retaking Constantinople have passed. Something like 15 million people live there now.

Its not the same glorious city it once was. The slums stretch for miles, its like a European Mexico City.

I guess it still has strategic importance.
