    Default LaMarcus Aldridge: MVP candidate?

LaMarcus Aldridge is quietly putting up a spectacular season. His team has the second best record in the league, and he's averaging over 22 points, close to 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1 block per game, with underrated post defense and a few monster games. Do you think he could end up top 5 in MVP voting? (I don't think there is any serious possibility he could actually win it, but he could end up with a season similar to say, Jermaine O'Neal in 2004)

Peja was once top 5 in MVP voting.

Wasn't it the same year as Jermaine O'Neal, precisely? That year was strange, you had a lot of star players with lower than usual ppg and FG%.

Well, I guess it depends on the blazers standings. Say they finish forth in the west(I have them 5~6), itd be hard not to give him a couple of votes.

No, not MVP.. but definitely an all-star. If he can start posting up more often and being more aggressive like he did against the Warriors rather than settling for jumpers then he might be able to move up to the elite tier.

He's not a serious candidate to win the award but i could see him getting some 3rd-5th place votes.

He's the best player on one of the best teams, so yes he is an MVP candidate. He won't win, but he will get some votes if the Blazers can keep it up.

I dont like him but if the Blazers have a better record than the Spurs or anyone in the West after 81 game i say give it to him... but that would never happen... they will fall back to earth, probably 6th or 7 seed

What makes teams like warriors, Clippers, Rockets better? Think Portland can be a top 4-6 seed.

Clippers are last in defensive efficiency, last in FT given, and 28th in opposing FG%.

I don't understand why people are so high on them right now.

I've said it the past few years...i think LMA is the best, or top 3 at worse, pf in the league. He does it on both ends. He is never a purely statistically amazing player because he does not chase stats in any way. He does the right, simple, yet effective play. He bruises like a big guy should, is an outstanding defender of bigs, is a knock down shooter, and has one of the best post games in the league. His only knock is that sometimes he always himself to not be in attack mode.

My 2013-2014 Pf rankings (based on impact on creating a winning team):
    1. LMA
    2. Dirk
    3. Zach
    4. Duncan
    5. Klove
    6. Griffin
    7. Davis
    8. Horford
    9. Lee
    10. Bosh
*6 through 10 pretty interchangeable at this point."

Top 10 pf's pretty damn amazing btw. Dunno if there is a better top 10 at any other position. Studs like Pau Gasol aren't even on this list (and he'll end up top 10 arguably once Kobe comes back).

Sure, an 8th of the way through the season. Which means that he should be considered for a player of the month award.
