Exactly, so if he wins a FMVP, yet still gets outplayed by Westbrook, Paul and Curry in the regular season, then you can't really rank him above those players all time.

I wouldn't say so. Chauncey Billups won FMVP over that loaded Lakers roster yet he's nowhere near top 20. Obviously not the same scenario but one FMVP doesn't garner Top 20 attention

To be top 20 you need to AT LEAST at some point establish yourself as a top 2-3 player in the game.

If Kyrie wins FMVP but doesn't set that precedent then he isn't on that level.

There's been plenty of talented and clutch players who aren't quite there. He needs to show that he can carry a team for an extended period of time.

Would you expect Kyrie to make noise in a tough conference with a guy like Wally Sczcerbiak as his second option?

Lebron has put him in a position to go wild in these scenarios where he can shine. Can he do it on his own? Remains to be seen.
