Re: Cop shoots man trying to protect artistic kid
None of this matters, because his friends in the Police Union will back him so he gets a juicy severance check for his actions along with being reinstated next year.

Re: Cop shoots man trying to protect artistic kid
Just like the autistic kid can't be blamed for his actions, the police can't really be blamed for this. He already drew his gun and there's a black guy lying there. What's he to do, not shoot him?

What does a Black man in America have to do to NOT get shot by the police?

I think these officers are flat out scared of black men. Especially with what's going on right now.
And I can't stress this enough. ... so long as people protect and then let go of these trigger happy individuals, this will continue.

not really. i think it is that superiority complex that police officers have. like they are the law and if you dont obey then you die and its your fault.

guys, so it comes out that the police officer was aiming for the autistic kid, not the guy on the ground.

I am grateful this man was not killed. The police who shot him needs to see jail time and lose his badge.

while i agree wholeheartedly, what are the chances he will be imprisoned? even when cops mess up, prosecutors do not bring down the full weight of the law on them. i can envision the department cutting ties with him and a civil suit being brought to the court, but criminal charges? that's incredibly difficult to do when a cop is the accused.

DA always protects cops so the chances are low, hopefully at the least this man gets a multi-million payout from the city, but that will not mean much if his mobility is permanently affected for the rest of his life.
For trying to protect an autistic kid who was holding a truck.
And had his arms up and was lying down and clearly explained the situation.
Bullshit.

this is what needs change. i understand one of the biggest reasons black males are being gunned down is because of their lack of nuclear family values and other factors within the black community. however, the government's unwillingness to prosecute police officers who carried out a criminal act is just shameful and unjust. it creates a big separation between the communities and police.
it's no different than a kid who doesn't get punished while his brother is punished the instant he exhibits bad behavior.
