He was gonna leave anyways, Presti asked him if he wanted to stay basically. Also I'm sure at that moment they thought they were keeping Durant. Durant, Ibaka , Adams and Kanter is too much front court to go around.

getting another traditional guard simply gave them better opportunities on running multiple units.

I don't think Ibaka was happy anyway. He wanted a bigger role. He wanted offensive plays called for him.
Let's see if he blows up like Harden did as soon as he got traded by OKC

Nah, if Durant wasnt the weakest player in the history of sports, they woulda fielded a roster of:
Westbrook
Oladipo
KD
Horford
Adams
easily best starting 5 in the league. Had them making the finals vs the Cavs too.
