    This, while there is some main stream anime that is made for all audiences, the assumption that everyone in japan likes anime is largely false. I know people who've been there and liking too much anime once your out of you teens still makes you in to what is their equivalent of a nerd.

    That only makes up for a genre of anime. There's a ton of anime that literally makes you think about your life and your decision-making. Series like Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop have literally nothing to do with 13 year old boys who are just finding out about tits.
