I think Rockets win this series in 6 or 7 as long as Harden's injury isn't serious which it probably isn't. That being said Adams might come alive and be the third best player in this series and if that's the case OKC has a good shot.

EDIT: I tried renaming the thread but couldn't do it. Mods please rename the thread to something more official since there's been some complaints.

Thunder in 7. This will be the toughest first round series IMO.

    Houston in 5.

I think all the games will be competitive, but the Thunders 3pnt defense is horrendous. Maybe the Rockets go cold for a couple games, but I think they have too many good shooters to go cold for an entire series.

What might be the most exciting first round matchup in years, this will determine the MVP conversation for years to come, even though that award is for the regular season alone. It all comes down to whether the Thunder can slow down the Rockets' unlimited three point shooting barrage. If Anderson, Ariza, Gordon, Williams are all hot, this will not go seven games.
    Houston in six

How will this determine the MVP if the difference in the series is Houstons 3 point shooting.

OKC has little chance but they do have the advantage in the front court so if Russ can slow the game down they could at least win 2 of their home games.

    I see Houston in 6.

It's hard to bet on the non 3point shooting team in this day and age, with this much disparity. Houston has made almost 200 more 3s than Golden state this year and they're playing one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the league.

Rockets to beat the ish out of them. This won't be a long series.

Styles make fights. Look what happened last year when thunder bully balled golden state into a 1-3 hole...we stbrook running like a maniac into the paint and all big guys crashing towards the rim many times can tire an opponent out, and farther the shot the more dramatic effect it will have. I hope it is a close series.

The same reason we credit superstars with playoff victories over their rivals?

The key difference will be three point shooting, but the casual fan and future generations will only see who wins or who went home.

Russ is definitely the MVP, but got the Rockets in either 5 or 6 games. Better bench and supporting cast

    OKC in 6.

Houston obviously wins the talent disparity, but it is surmountable enough depending on which team's role-players step up in the playoffs; that's where it gets interesting with Billy Donovan walking around OKC's coaching box, since coaching tends to be at the fulcrum of that. We saw a completely different dynamic with OKC in the playoffs last year compared to the regular season, which is mainly attributable to him.

Donovan's only glaring flaw is that he lets Westbrook take the driver's seat far too often in late-game stretches, but that hasn't been as intractable as it was last year when Kevin Durant was aboard.

Houston should still be favored on-paper; but due to coaching discrepancies and leadership discrepancies between the two leaders, I'm not ready to believe that it will completely translate into a practical reality.

That being said, this will be a great match-up. It's seldom enough that the two leading MVP candidates intersect in a playoffs match-up, yet it's happening in the first round this year.

I got OKC of course, need Adams to keep that SOB piece of shit Pat Bev away from Westbrook though.

I just wonder if WB have a legit shooter/SG like a Devin Booker or a peak Redick, I think OKC will surely be much better.
