So they're looking to replace Hill or get another vet?
Exum, and fellow teammate Rodney Hood, is spending the summer in Utah to train, perhaps looking for a similar spike Gordon Hayward got out of spending his summer in-state last year.
"You'll see a tremendous player," Lindsey said "We have very high expectations for him."
The Jazz were encouraged two years ago when Exum trained for a second year in the league, but his progress was disrupted by a torn ACL.
Lindsey said he and coach Quin Snyder challenged Exum and "gave him some truth." Exum decided to stay in town, and according to Lindsey, that's helped him make strides.
"Dante is doing extremely good work," Lindsey said. "[Strength coach] Jeff Watkinson came over today and singled out Dante and Rodney as doing really good work, so we're excited."
encouraging. They better get to work because they just got some competition

Mitchell's selection seems to raise questions for the future of Dante Exum, Utah's 2014 lottery pick, especially if the Jazz are able to re-sign George Hill or pick up another veteran point guard as they desire. But Lindsey said he sees Exum and Mitchell playing together, bringing length, speed and athletic ability to Utah's backcourt. They'll explore that during Utah Summer League in July.
Exum's not playing Summer League. Got to get Mitchell, Goss and Wallace minutes. Hopefully they'll mostly play together. No reason they can't all play together with Exum, Neto, Hood and Burks. They want multi skilled guys with length. This guy sounds like he's the perfect fit for the team. I'd look for him to start the year with the Stars and be ready to help the Jazz later in the season if needed.
"It's been my experience the guys with tools, guys who love the game, guys with character and intelligence ... those are always the guys who get better," he said. "We'll find out to what degree."
sounds like maybe Exum and Hood are getting the message too

[QUOTE]Dumping a player as young as Lyles, who at one time showed a lot of promise is certainly not without risk, however. It could be that GM Dennis Lindsey and company simply felt jumping up 11 spots was worth pulling the plug on the Lyles experiment, but I also wonder if perhaps Jazz head honchos weren

Starting PGs under contract for next yr (tradable):
Schro
Lin
IT
Kemba
Kyrie
Reg
Bev
Conley
Dragic
Brogdon
Rubio
Russ
Bled
Dame
TP
Wall
Lin might be had with Russell getting traded there. I think he might fit offensively anyway
Bledsoe maybe? Thats shows how valuable Hill is. Pay him!

Getting Donovan Mitchell without giving up any veteran players was a masterful move and a major reason Dennis Lindsey is the best GM in the NBA and deserving of Executive of the Year.
I'm hopeful that Johnson is dealt and maybe Diaw

Wouldn't surprise me. Depends on how much they have to give up for George. The Jazz might get something out of a sign and trade if it comes down to it

Heading into next season, he can make an immediate contribution off the bench. Both as an offensive spark who can get hot and create shots for himself and others, and as a defensive specialist.
I say he starts with the Stars and learns the sets and can help them later in the year
However, even with all of his skills, he was not an effective player this last season. He struggled to get going with inconsistent playing time, and when he did get the chance to play, he settled for threes (48 percent of all his shots), and seemed timid.
timid Lyles was not! That was the heart of the problem

Joseph isn't a starter, so he doesn't really move the needle. If you are going after Joseph, you're probably better off giving Dante Exum those minutes.
stop with the Dante crap already!

The Jazz may have succeeded in duplicating Carlos Boozer with Al Jefferson in 2010, but that's hardly going to happen with Hayward. And his influence would be lost.
I'm not a big Boozer fan but come on! It all fell apart after that
