So much crying and salt for almost every post in the last page and a half. Guess we need to get used to this for the next 2-3 weeks. Yikes

Once Boston/CLE there will barely be anyone in this thread. So don't worry.

FiveThirtyEight currently has the Rockets with a 69% chance of winning the title.

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...a-predictions/

Somehow they only have the Warriors with a 15% chance.

Cavs at 11%. Celtics at 5%.

Do the Rockets have a player that can slow Durant?

    I don't think so

No. They most likely throw Ariza, Luc, and Tucker at him at various times throughout the game but they will hardly slow him down.

    Not from spinelessly colluding.

On the court though we'll have to wait and see.

Houston can't win just isolating Harden all series.

26th assist rank vs 1st. It would take an injury or all time choke for GS to lose because their teamwork is so superior, offense conducted with a whole another layer that makes it harder to defend, and empowers players by putting the ball in their hand more and making them part of the process. It wont be a sweep though because the league would never allow that to happen. Theyll gift paul and harden an easy start a couple times, nueter the D with early calls and let them build their iso rythym + a lead. Dubs in 6.

That won't be the reason the Rockets lose....unless they just can't score at all or start turning it over a lot.

They'll lose because they don't have as good of a team...and that isn't because of the style. It is because they have an insanely good top 4 that trumps what any other team in the league has.

That is about the best trio you could throw at him though.

If Durant plays great...nobody can really do much of anything other than maybe Leonard.

The key to slowing Durant down is making him consistently work hard on both ends. Be really physical with him running him off screens and then really body him on defense.

The Rockets, unlike most teams, at least have a few guys that can actually make the game hard on him for stretches.

Can they do that and not get worked by Curry and Klay? We'll see.

GS ranked 28th in turnovers. Houston's offensive efficiency was basically identical to GS during the season.

P.J. Tucker isn't doing a damn thing against KD

Ariza has to play the best defense of his life for the Rockets to win

And don't get me started on the CP3/Curry matchup

I like Houston sans Paul and would root for them in the finals but you can't bet against the Warriors in this one

+ This will be a glorious moment for modern basketball, prepare for astronomical shooting statistics, savor the flavor!

How this works: Elo ratings are a measure of team strength based on head-to-head results, margin of victory and quality of opponent, while our CARMELO projections estimate a player’s future performance based on the trajectory of other, similar NBA players. Our CARM-Elo ratings, which power the forecast model, blend these two metrics to measure a team's quality based on both its game results and its roster. This forecast is based on 50,000 simulations of the rest of the season and accounts for team fatigue, travel distance to games, and home courts with higher altitudes. In forecasting the playoffs, the model also gives a bonus to teams with more playoff experience on their roster. In forecasting the draft lottery, the model takes unprotected draft picks into account.
Rockets had plenty of injuries too, but no way should they be favored by 79%
