With the season set to begin in just a few days, the NBA has announced a minor tweak to the rules regarding two-way contracts. Per a report, travel days will no longer be included in the 45 days of service that a two-way player is allowed.

Nevertheless, since they dumped the poor fitting Carmelo Anthony and added Dennis Schroder along with some other nice depth pieces, many experts are predicting that OKC will indeed be a powerhouse this season, and several have pinned them ahead of the Jazz in the standings. Seeing how they measure up against the Golden State Warriors in the first game will be a nice measuring stick for the Jazz who play them three days later.
Westbrook and Robertson are hurt so it doesn't really tell you much.

But the Jazz still see gold in the former No. 5 overall pick (and No. 7 in our Jazz player rankings for 2018). And, for his part, Exum continues to show all the things that got people excited back in 2014. Even during an abbreviated preseason run.
And continues to turn the ball over, miss lay-ups and miss open shots.

Per 36 minutes, Exum averaged 11 points and nearly nine assists per game. He attacked the hoop without fear and, in doing so, generated offense for himself and others to great effect. His length and lateral quickness continued to shine on defense as well. When he was on the floor, the Jazz held opponents to just 80.2 points per 100 possessions.
    Pre-season and summer league HOFer!!!

[QUOTE]Exum can help himself by becoming a better finisher and 3-point shooter as well. Should he show progression there, he

There will be more deserving players, no doubt, but playing with LeBron may allow Brandon Ingram to shine. It also helps that he plays in one of the biggest markets of the league, so more eyes will be on him than anybody else. We saw this effect with a certain Rookie of the Year winner last year, as Joel Embiid drew eyes to the large-market 76ers. Dante Exum is going to show the league why he got paid. It will seemingly come out of nowhere, and with a little extra media attention, somebody has got to notice. Same with Alec, after finally coming back from injuries and looking like a new-and-improved version of himself, he will have the minutes early on in the year to put up some big scoring numbers. Boban Marjanovic is a runner up because he looked dang good in preseason.
One thing Exum has never shown is that he's a scorer. Why would anyone think he's going to put up a bunch of points? Assists maybe.

[QUOTE]Last season what we saw was that the Jazz blew out bad teams by large margins, and then put up a fight against the better teams, and beat those guys more often than not. My biggest worry was the same as the annonymous NBA scout

After the Jazz toppled the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs last year, they faced the Rockets. The Jazz were outgunned, especially with starting point guard Ricky Rubio missing the series with an injury.
Doubt they win the one game they won if Rubio has the ball instead of Mitchell.

The Jazz add Thabo Sefolosha (back from a season-ending injury), Grayson Allen, and add another year of experience to a lineup that improved dramatically in the second half of season.
a platooner and a rookie to go along with a bunch of guys that don't fit or the coach doesn't care for!

The Jazz and the Thunder are both in the Northwest Division and ended last year tied with a 48-34 record. This year, both teams will be hoping to move up the standings and win the division. With how close the division ended last year, this game may end up being pivotal for any season-ending tie-breaker situations.
    The now meaningless division title!

Rudy Gobert: After missing a good chunk of games last year and two years before that, Gobert is due for an injury-free season like he had in 2014-15 and 2016-17. The Jazz have proven to win more often with Gobert in the lineup than without (61.1 percent to 36.7 percent). So a healthy Gobert could mean a few extra wins this year.
He got hurt in the playoffs in 2017 too. If he missed too many games they are a lottery team

[QUOTE]Dante Exum: This could be a coming-out year for the young Australian, who is still trying to live up to his No. 5 draft pick potential after battling injuries through much of his first four seasons. He
