Albert Nahmad: Cavaliers will trade Kyle Korver to the Jazz in exchange for Alec Burks and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021 (via Wizards), per @Adrian Wojnarowski. Jazz will create a $4.0M trade exception in the deal.

The Kyle Korver contract has a $7.56M cap hit this season and $7.5M for 2019-20. The salary for next season has $3.44M guaranteed with the full amount becoming protected if not waived by July 7. Alec Burks is in the last year of his contract with a salary of $11..53M. The guard also has $1M of unlikely bonuses in his contract.

It's a start, but doesn't solve the Favors problem, or the utter lack of 3 point shooting from the PG position. Rubio is either red hot or ice cold and Exum doesn't ever really get above slightly toasty at best.

Yeah Snyder will like Korver more than he ever liked Burks but rather that's a good thing remains to be seen. Sloan loved Korver too much when he was coach. I imagine he is very happy too. Burks is the only guy other than Mitchell that can create his own shot and it's something they will miss though it was rarely utilized. They become older and less athletic as well. Having Korver or Ingles in the game at all times should help with the spacing though and that is their biggest issue for sure. Snyder helped Korver a lot in Atlanta and it says 3 assistants have coached Kyle as well. He should fit in quickly I imagine.

The defense could suffer though Snyder never thought much of Alec at that end. Rubio looks unstoppable or horrid. No in between. It's really hard to understand. Has to be something mental. Snyder needs to bench him when he doesn't gave it going though. That has killed them the last two years. Exum at least plays good D but he can't shoot from anywhere. Good to see Snyder bench him the past couple games but the Rubio/Exum lineups have to stop! Neto helps rather he continues to play or not who knows.

Thabo and Niang need to be in the mix somehow too. Thabo shot well last year and was one of their best players.Defense and cutting and rebounding. Niang might be their best shooter and most skilled player. He needs a longer leash. I think he'll be better than Ingles eventually. Allen needs to go to the G-league. Favors needs to go to back-up center. Lindsey needs to do more still!

With his solid production, Neto could be taking more and more minutes from Dante Exum, too. Exum played just seven minutes and turned the ball over three times in that span.
Rubio needs to lose minutes as well if he isn't playing well. It kills them!

Also, shoutout to Derrick Favors who posted no words in his tweet, simply the link to AB’s infamous dunk years ago.
It's right after that he broke his ankle. Maybe the next game. People were arguing over rather that was a dunk or not and I got the feeling he was trying to prove something when he got hurt. He actually did something similar recently! Cavs fans will love him!

    nope.
    Not an upgrade at all.

We need a change and more scoring options but AB has a lot more scoring versatility than Korver.. also a better playmaker.

Also not a "bit" of an overpay.. It’s a HUGE overpay, TWO draft picks AND a younger more dynamic player vs someone Cleveland doesn’t want anymore..

    What the hell is this?!!

Looks like a lot of it is that they dropped salary which could help with a future move before the deadline. Also got the trade exception which could bring in something decent. See what else happens before we can fully judge this one

On another sad note, my man Dante might become 3rd string PG with the way Neto played last night. I wish Dante could get it together. Please Dante, figure it out!!

Posted by JMBDog on Nov 29, 2018 | 9:18 AM
Dante is still playing. Snyder seems to like him more as a secondary playmaker at the 2 or 3. Rubio/Dante should never happen though and it's becoming a thing!

I also think this puts Dante in the hot seat. Korver and Neto can soak up all of his minutes if he doesn’t start figuring things out. The trade itself is fine, AB has never been fully utilized here, and he’s never really fit into any Jazz system. He’s going to be great on the Cavs. Korver can come in and steal minutes from players not playing hard enough, so its going to help the team in more ways than one.

Posted by McDeen on Nov 29, 2018 | 9:42 AM
Exum is untradable. He will play. Coach has never been much of a Neto fan either. Rubio is the one that needs to be benched if he's sucking!

Good point. I saw some people complaining about 2nd-round picks and citing Rudy Gobert (first founder) and Jokic as evidence to not trade 2nd rounders. But all the other second-round picks who don’t pan out far outweigh those that miraculously do.

    Posted by Karl Stalone 32 on Nov 29, 2018 | 10:09 AM
Definitely good players in the 2nd round especially high 2nd rounders which they could be especially the Washington on the way their franchise looks now. The Gleague will make those more valuable too once the Stars have a full roster of Jazz guys. I'd guess they could add a 3rd or 4th round even

The Jazz' second round picks since 2006
    Dee Brown
    Herbert Hill
    Tadija Dragicevic
    Ante Tomic
    Goran Suton
    Jeremy Evans
    Kevin Murphy
    Erick Green
    Jarnell Stokes
    Dani Diez
    Olivier Hanlan
    Tyrone Wallace
    Joel Bolomboy
    Isaiah Whitehead
    Nigel Williams-Goss
    Thomas Bryant
    Vince Edwards

Neto was drafted by the Hawks

    Posted by cchappell18 on Nov 29, 2018 | 10:36 AM
Tomic was good. Too bad he never played here. Evans was good that one year. If he could have only extended his game out to the 3. Gree looked good in his brief stint here. Hanlan looked good in his 2nd summer league. Wallace is good, Gave him away! Bolomboy looked good too. Goss might still be playing here. Ine of the best players on a tp team in Greece/Euroleague. Neto is a player!
