I kept saying this. That was one huge flaw. How did they forget that?

Re: "You" on Netflix...
The show is meh.
It relies on old cliches and tropes that we've seen in tons of other films/tv shows.
What it does different is not the use of social media and modern tech to spy (there's others that have done that), but how the writers wanted us to sympathize with the dude.
Even tho the dude was a stalker and a creep, they manipulated us into rooting and sympathizing with him and they did a decent job up to a point.
The show used 'cliffhangers' as a tool to keep us in suspense, but I always felt that was a cheap gimmick that shows do when it lacks substance and proper build up. Imo show 'cliffhangers' are the equivalent of film 'scare jumps'. A tool used to get a quick reaction without substance. It can work at times and has its place, but is overall a poor gimmick and displays a cut corner writing/directing approach.
Im not trashing the show, it was decent but not worthy of the hype it's receiving.

Re: "You" on Netflix...
^that's what intrigued me about this show. you can read my first reply in this thread. i was almost offput by how creepy this guy is, but the writers managed to get me to root for him. i did it consciously, knowing damn well what kind of person he was, even after he killed people, i was rooting for him.

Why not root for him?
He's a great guy.
He's actually what people should inspire to be, but we live in a convoluted world full of stupid people.

SPOILER TALK
Watched the show. Loved it... but I hated how the season ended. Really didn't like how Beck died. She wasn't the perfect girl, especially after cheating on Joe, but dammit she didn't have to die. I actually wanted to see Joe get caught. Man, the show left us on a huge cliffhanger though. Wonder how Candace being alive will impact season 2

So stalking the girl you like, and killing anyone that gets in your way is the type of person that people should inspire to be?
I hope you're kidding Justin, or you need to put in a jail cell.

It gets better as you keep going. Give it a chance
Only episode that really sucked imo is #4. The episodes after is where the show starts to get really good
